Emu Oil is a great topical treatment for burns.
Emu oil helps to heal wounds and will help heal scars such as keloid scars. Although there have been many breakthrough studies with Emu oil and burns, as early as 1998, Emu oil gained a reputation for being an effective treatment for burns. A double-blind study conducted by the Harner Burn Center (1998) reported that "Emu oil has...[a] significant anti-inflammatory effect... Emu [oil] treated areas[ such as burns and scars from burns] healed significantly better than [the] control.'
Whether you have a new burn or the scars of an older burn, it is not too late to start treating your burn with Emu oil and experiencing reduced pain, redness, dryness and inflammation. Apply Emu oil to the area at least twice a day, more if you can, and be quite generous with the amount. You can also take the oil internally - we recommend at least 1 teaspoon a day (equivalent to 6 capsules a day)
Emu Oil effectively penetrates the skin due to its compound structure (it is very similar to normal skin structure), and is considered to be both hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic, which explains why Emu Oil has such an extremely low irritation rate and doesn’t clog pores. Furthermore, Emu Oil is also bacteriostatic, meaning that it does not promote the growth of bacteria. These factors help restore and/or repair the skin and helps bring moisture to extremely dry and damaged skin.
